Let’s Take a Walk

‘Walking Home Counseling’ is not just a nice name; the ‘Walking’ part can also be literal. Walking therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves walking outdoors with a mental health professional. Steve Jobs was known for conducting meetings where the participants walked together, which has been shown to significantly increase the feeling of connection between people.

There are many other potential benefits to taking sessions out of the office, including the physical health benefits of exercise, endorphin release which improves mood, greater oxygen flow which can improve cognitive function and focus, and increased problem-solving ability and creativity. Participating in a counseling session while all of this is happening can take the effectiveness of counseling even further. Weather permitting, I am happy to offer outdoor walking sessions and I encourage you to give it a try.
